FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a Spray Tan?
A spray tan is a healthier alternative way of having a tan, without having to use sunbeds or sunbathing. There are various different types of spray tan, as well as shades, therefore you can tailor the service to meet your client’s needs and desires.
How does the treatment work?
Spray tanning is a form of self-tanning (or sunless tanning) where a fine mist of spray tan solution is sprayed onto your body. Spray tanning or self-tanning products have Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), an ingredient that interacts with your skin to give you the perfect tan that you desire
How long does the treatment take and what is the average cost in a salon environment?
You should allow around 20 minutes to complete your spray tan once your client has had time to undress, apply tan and get dressed again. Spray tans usually take 4-8 hours to develop so be careful not to get wet during this time. If you opt for an Express tan this allows you to control your depth of tan so you can rinse it off after 1hr for a sun-kissed glow, 2hrs for a medium tan or 3hrs for a dark bronze. Average treatments vary from £10- £30 depending on what kind of tan the client would like.

A practical assessment is carried out using a model allowing you the maximum time during the training to work upon acquiring and demonstrating the required technique. We recommend bringing your own model or if you can’t; let the Academy know at least 48 hours before your course and the Academy can support with finding you a model for a £10 admin fee (please see terms and conditions).
